Building with WOOD

You can build a house of wood with fairly primitive tools. That is why so many structures have been built with wood over time.

But wood does not last, like stone or even brick. It wears over time and it can burn.

The Great Chicago Fire of October 1871 consumed most of the city because buildings were constructed of wood, and once one building caught fire, it was not easy to prevent that fire from spreading. (During that great conflagration, even the Chicago River was on fire! There was so much oil and grease on the water that it burned!)

Here is some information about some wooden houses that were built quickly in former Yugoslavia by kind people, helping others. It shows the process well and reminds us to be kind to others...
